Emerald Current Review

Editorial policy

Emerald Current Review aims to make freshwater subjects clear without making them sound simpler than they are. We explain our reasoning, distinguish fact from interpretation and correct the record when needed.

Accuracy and sources

Articles are checked for clarity, internal consistency and support for their factual claims. We use relevant, identifiable sources when a claim calls for them, and distinguish a general explanation from a statement about a particular place or event. Where information is uncertain or varies by context, we say so rather than presenting a guess as settled fact.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for readers, not advertisers or partners. A commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage, a favourable description or editorial approval. We do not present promotional claims as independent reporting.

Corrections

If you spot a factual error or a misleading passage, contact us through the Contact page and identify the article and the issue. We review correction requests and amend material when warranted, making significant changes clear to readers.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid placements and collaborative material are clearly identified where they appear, so readers can distinguish them from editorial work. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when that is the case, the image is labelled.
